Height of Fashion
10/11/2000

I would love to be able to walk in 4 inch stilettos properly. My friend says it's easy, but I have had a lot of trouble. I there somewhere on the net where I could learn?

Shoeworld says...
Look no further sweetie. Walking in a high pair of stilettos is a tricky business that takes practice.  We suggest that you go about your daily business at home wearing your stillies in order to get the feel of them.  Your posture will automatically improve as your body realigns itself naturally on your heels and it's this sensation which often causes wobbliness and unsteadiness. Keep your back straight, take slow, longer strides and relax into your new height as you walk.  Practice makes perfect! Find out more about this seasons new stiletto styles in our feature High Heel Appeal.

CCC - Curvaceous Calves Complex
16/10/2000

I have really big calves and ankles, but I would still like to wear knee length leather boots. I cannot find anywhere that stocks them. Help please!

Shoeworld says...
Finding a comfortable fit can be a challenge — especially for curvaceous calves. This season's cowboy boots allow ladies with larger legs a flattering, funky option. They are cooler than ever before this Autumn/Winter, with bold colours, chic patterns, embroidered details and clever styling. However, boots made of stretch fabrics also offer an easy solution because they naturally contour to the leg. Fabrics that stretch best are made with Lycra, which maintains the shape wear after wear. Although leather will naturally expand with wear, its give is minimal. Tower Trouble

5/9/2000

I'm 6ft tall, female UK shoe size 7. I love fashion but don't want to TOWER over everyone. I love the sexy stiletto heel, pointed toe, zip up ankle boots. LK Bennett & Faith do some lovely ones in coloured snake-skins. Where can I find a similar pair with a heel height UNDER 4cm (more of a kitten heel)? Hope you can help.

Shoeworld says...
You should visit www.office.co.uk for a great collection of mid heels that actually go up to UK size 8. This site is packed with the most mouth-watering styles clearly set out, with links to larger pictures and more detailed colour/option information. This site is bang up to the minute in fashion terms, already selling some great shoes featuring 1940's styling which is so hot this season - we're sure you'll find the sexy style you are looking for. The prices are great too. Go to the womens department, then to mid heels or ankle boots.  For more information, read all about the Office.co.uk website in our review...

Cowgirl Boots
17/8/2000

I am trying to find a pair of cowboy boots with an odd design. I am trying to match my belt. The belt is similar to cow hair with a pattern of mostly white with black, brown and reddish/orange spots. Please help.

Shoeworld says...
Trying to find an exact match for this unusual belt may be impossible, added to which sometimes you can have too much of a good thing! Concentrate on a specific feature of the belt: continue the look by choosing something in ponyskin, in a neutral colour such black. Black and white animal prints are still around this season so you could combine a mix of patterns for a funky look, or go for something outrageous by picking a matching orange to emphasis the details of the belt.  Try visiting the following sites to find something suitable: www.office.co.uk, www.kennethcole.com or www.jonesbootmaker.com. Find out more about cowboy boots in the A/W 2000 fashion reports. Ride 'em, cowgirl.

How do I Converse?
17/4/2000

Can't get any Converse All Star Chuck Taylor shoes anywhere in the UK.

Shoeworld says...
Cut out the middle men and head for the top. Visiting a company's official website is the best way to find information about a company and their retailing activities. Send your inquiry to the Converse website by visiting www.converse.com. They are sure to send you a list of registered retailers in the UK and on the web.

Bridal Bother
3/4/2000

I am getting married on Saturday 29th July 2000 and have a picture in my head of the kind of shoes I would like. I have actually seen them in another shop, but they only did them in black or silver and I would like gold! I would like a sandal type shoe in a gold satin type material with a wedge heel and ankle strap with perhaps a bit of embroidery.

Shoeworld says...

Vist the site This is a problem. We can't having you go down the isle with the WRONG shoes. Thankfully, Rainbow Club is the UK's leading bridal footwear company specialising in dyable shoes and accessories. It offers a fabulous range of bridal footwear with a list of stockists and useful information. The site also uses the latest technology so that visitors can change the shade of styles according to their own personal requirements. Brilliant or what? Thick Ankles
2/3/2000

I love the new open-backed mules that are really hot for summer, but my ankles aren't all that flattering. What do you suggest?

Shoeworld says...
There's nothing worse than a open-backed shoe with a badly turned ankle. It can make a leg look like a tree trunk before you can shout "Timber!" To offset this problem, choose a style with the new thin square heel rather than a kitten heel or stiletto: adding a wider dimension at the back of the shoe will minimise the proportions of your ankle. If all else fails, wear this summer's long, flowing skirts or some classic boot-cut trousers to conceal the offending appendages.

Smelly Trainers
13/3/2000

My girlfriend is constantly complaining about my smelly feet. I've tried every thing I can think of to get rid of the stench (which is like vinegar and rotten cheese) but I just can't get rid of the odour no matter how much I wash my feet! Do you have any advice?

Shoeworld says...

Lack of foot hygiene rarely causes foot odours. Most so called 'foot-odours' are shoe odours. This results from a combination of heat, perspiration, bacteria and shoe chemicals. Try wearing some natural materials or open-toed shoes with plenty of ventilation so that your feet can breathe. Cotton socks may also help as this is a natural fibre against your skin. Shoeless people rarely have foot odours as do single people: your girlfriend must learn to accept your natural pheromones as much as you accept her moans and groans!
